“The Judiciary is entrusted to self-govern and, in doing so, must hold its federal judges to the highest standards of integrity and impartiality." Ninth Circuit Chief Circuit Judge Mary H. Murguia, July 8, 2024. We apply those high standards to federal district and circuit court judges, but fail to hold the justices of the highest court in the land, the Supreme Court, to that same standard. It's time for an ethics rule and enforcement mechanism with some teeth in it, and it's time to start impeaching justices who have been conducting themselves with the "highest standards of integrity and impartiality." Design description: Horizontal design. Background design is a lady justice in gray silhouette, holding up the scales of justice, placed on the bottom third of the left side of the design. Right aligned on the top one third of the design, starting above lady justice and placed as low as her upheld arm to just above the top of the scales of justice, are the words over three lines, "The judiciary is entrusted to self-govern," The first line is a larger black font, the second and third lines are in a smaller red font. There is no text over lady justice's head and shoulder areas, or over the scales that she holds up. Starting at the area of lady justice's other arm, in slightly smaller blue font, center aligned across four lines, are the words, "And in doing so, must hold its federal judges to the highest standards of integrity and impartiality." At the bottom, in very small black font over two lines are the words, "Ninth Circuit Chief Circuit Judge Mary H. Murguia on July 8, 2024."
