Who needs express delivery when you’ve got a mailbag big enough for a baby? This humorous vintage photo shows a city letter carrier posing with a young boy snugly tucked into his mailbag. After the introduction of parcel post in 1913, a few adventurous parents actually mailed their kids—yes, with stamps attached! The Postmaster General soon stepped in to put an end to these "special deliveries." Since then, scenes like this have been immortalized in fun photos, reminding us that sending kids by mail is officially off-limits. Original photo courtesy of the National Postal Museum, edited and applied on this postcard by Alma Wad.
